Insights - Potential Fuel Fraud

If your account is enabled for Motia Telematics, you now have access to a powerful new feature called Insights—designed to help you stay informed about key events across your fleet.


Important: To ensure accurate tracking and reporting, fuel cards must be printed with the vehicle’s registration number. This allows them to be correctly linked to your Motia Telematics system.


How to Access Insights

You can view your Insights in two convenient ways:

  1. Main Menu Access
    From the dashboard, simply click on Insights in the main menu on the left-hand side. A counter will indicate how many new events have occurred since your last visit.

  2. Welcome Widget
    When new events are triggered, you’ll see a prompt in the welcome widget. Click View Insights to go directly to the latest updates.

Your dashboard also includes a dedicated Insights widget, which shows the number of events that have occurred within your selected time period. You can adjust this period using the dropdown in the top-right corner of the widget.

To explore more details, click See all to open your Fleet Insight History, where you’ll find a full breakdown of events for the selected timeframe.



Understanding Fleet Insight

Once you're on the Fleet Insight screen, you’ll be able to view detailed information about each event.

This is triggered when a vehicle fitted with a Motia tracking device is detected in a different location from where a fuel card transaction was made using the same registration number.

If the location is a Point of Interest (POI) saved in the Motia platform, the friendly name of the POI will be displayed instead of the full address—for example, “Leeds Depot” instead of a street name.


Managing Notifications

To help you stay organised:

  • You can dismiss a notification to remove it from your active alerts count.
  • All dismissed notifications remain accessible at any time by clicking View Alert History.
  • Each user with access to My Motia must individually dismiss notifications. Dismissing a notification does not remove it for other users in your company account.



Fleet Insights History & Filtering

The Fleet Insights History screen displays all acknowledged events.
To assist with deeper investigation, you can apply filters at the top of the table—such as by vehicle registration—to easily identify patterns or repeat occurrences.


Stay Notified Your Way

In addition to in-platform notifications via My Motia, you can choose to receive email alerts for new events. These can be turned on or off at any time using the Notify By Email slider.
